Michael Robinson, Métis-Canadian, was born in Toronto, Ontario, in 1948 and died July 28, 2010. Trained at Sheridan College’s School of Design (Glass Major, 1969-1971), Robinson was an artist, glassblower, printmaker, and writer. During his lifetime, Robinson exhibited widely throughout Ontario, but also nationally (British Columbia, Alberta, Quebec, Newfoundland) and internationally (United States, Switzerland, Germany), and he received several national and provincial awards, as well as grants. Robinson’s work resides in the permanent collections of a number of prominent institutions, such as the Canadian Museum of Civilization,〔( Canadian Museum of Civilization Collection )〕 the Royal Ontario Museum,〔(Royal Ontario Museum Collection )〕 the McMichael Gallery,〔(McMichael Gallery Collection )〕 the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, the Glenbow Art Institute in Calgary.
